Network of UNESCO recognised values

Implementation period: 2018-2020
Funded by: Erasmus+ Programme

Partners: Ethnic Culture Centre Suiti Foundation, Latvia; (Kihnu Cultural Space Foundation, Estonia; ICTM National Committee of Macedonia; Northern Macedonia; Georgian Arts and Culture Center, Georgia.

The project aimed to pool knowledge and experience from various countries to identify effective methods for transferring knowledge to practitioners of UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

Project partners, despite varying in size and scope, shared common goals and target groups. Bearers of ICH elements were the direct target group, and all organizations had extensive experience working with them within their respective countries. The project aimed to directly improve the education of ICH bearers through educational materials and seminars, as well as indirectly through capacity building of partner organizations' adult educators.

The Ethnic Culture Centre Suiti Foundation (ECC Suiti) oversaw the overall project management and implementation, while each partner organization established a local project management team. Transnational project meetings were planned to discuss implementation and expected results.

To exchange methods and best practices, four short-term joint staff training events were held across all partner countries.

The project's key outputs included:

  1. A joint online booklet: A summary of best practice examples from all partner countries, translated into English and all partner languages.
  2. Country-specific summaries: Summaries of each partner country's national support system for ICH and their organization's methodology for ICH preservation and promotion, translated into English.
  3. Joint proposals: Proposals for implementing new innovative methods and approaches, translated into English and all partner languages.

These materials were made accessible both in print and online through project partner websites.

Dissemination activities included local seminars in all partner countries to present project results to a wider audience. Social media (Facebook) and partner websites were also used to share project achievements and promote the developed materials.
